BOARD OF EDUCATION DROPS BALL ON SAFETY ISSUES
Director Vance Jason (M) discusses turn lanes at New Ft. Loudon Middle School (September 7, 2011)
The Loudon Regional Planning Commission is concerned about the safety of students and travelers and a Letter (see below) was sent to Chairman Bobby Johnson Jr.
Two and one half (2 1/2 years) have since passed and yet no turn lanes and no warning signals for the school zone at the new Ft. Loudoun Middle School and Loudon High School.
The Board of Education has learned that they must buy seven (7) Right-of-Ways to complete the turn lanes. Director Vance said that he would work with Assessor of Property Mike Campbell to determine a fair market value for the properties but there has been no recent update to indicate any progress.
The BOE has requested additional funding approval for Phase 2 when it appears that the Board can't manage to complete all of Phase 1!
Parents and concerned parents have contacted the THE HUNTER REPORT to ask what happened to the old Warning Signals prior to entering the Loudon High School zone.
