THE HUNTER REPORT
SPOILS SYSTEM OR OPEN PROCESS?
BY: PAT HUNTER
After only two years in public office, George Miller tendered his resignation as Loudon County trustee.
The local paper reported "Miller said that after his surgeries and rehabilitation that he plans to assist at Mahindra tractor dealership in Madisonville, where he is part owner, after he recoups from surgery."
George Miller's resignation came as no surprise to some political observers like myself who were expecting his resignation.
George Miller's timing was real uncanny leaving no chance for an election or voters to determine the fate of the next interim trustee.
Talk was that it was a done deal and everything had been worked out in the backroom, and time will only tell.
This isn't England and the line of succession to the royal throne shouldn't be King George I to Prince George II.
Individuals seeking the county trustee position include Sherri Colvard, Purchasing Director Leo Bradshaw, George (Chip) Miller II, and Loudon City Councilman Mike Cartwright.
Sherri Colvard and Mike Cartwright ran for the trustee's office in May 2010.
