Loudon County 8.4 Unemployment Rate

The Tennessee Unemployment Work Force just released unemployment rates for February 2009. Tennessee’s unemployment rate for February was 9.1 percent, up 0.5 percent from the January’s rate of 8.6 percent. The February rate a year ago was 5.5 percent. The national unemployment rate for February 2009 was 8.1 percent, up from the January rate of 7.6 percent.


The State’s unemployment report for February 2009 shows Loudon County’s unemployment rate at 8.8 percent. Last February 2008 the unemployment rate was 5.0 percent an increase of 3.8 percent. Loudon County’s unemployment rate for January 2009 was 7.7 percent, which went up by .7 percent.


In the East Tennessee area, Knox County continues to be in the Top 10 lowest unemployment rates statewide. Roane and Loudon counties were tied at 8.4 percent, 9th and 10th respectively in the Top 10 lowest unemployment rates.


Monroe County’s unemployment rate reached 15.9 percent in February 2009. Monroe County was one of ten counties with the highest unemployment rates, statewide.
